About Scott
My name is Scott Rathbone, and I do not conform to the real estate agent stereotype.
I am not a sleezy, pushy used car salesman, and I refuse to act like one. I do not drive a fancy car and I don’t wear suits. Not that there’s anything wrong with those things, they’re just not me. I don’t need to impress you with what I wear or what I drive, I’d rather impress you in how I work for you. I drive a Ford F150. In summer you might find me showing homes in shorts and a polo shirt, and I rock a beard. I’m a family man, a widowed father of two great boys. In my life, God comes first, then family, then Real Estate, but all three are highly important to me. I provide ALL of my clients with the same high level of service, whether they are buying/selling a $100,000 home or a $3,000,000 home. I am never too busy to take your call or respond to your text. I won’t try to “sell” anyone a home, because I know that a home has to sell itself. My job is really to be a matchmaker for people and homes. To help you find and negotiate to buy the perfect home, or to help you make your home stand out among the countless others for sale and get it sold quickly, and for the highest possible amount.
I have always loved helping people, and I figured there was no better way to help people than by assisting them with one of the biggest and most important financial decisions of their lives. Real estate had interested me for many years, having grown up with family members who were in the business. So, with the support of my late wife Jody, I left my stable “9 to 5” sales job in Corporate America to became a full time Realtor® Associate at McGraw Realtors in October 2005. 15+ years and 250+ transactions later, and there is no doubt that I made the right decision. The years have flown by, and I have learned so much. I absolutely love what I do, and I love the difference I help make in people’s lives. I haven’t just built a business, I have made lifelong friends. I love putting up the “Sale Pending” sign after an accepted contract on one of my listings, because I know it means that the seller can now move on to their next chapter. I love watching the buyer’s eyes light up when I open the door and it’s obvious that it’s “the one”. I love handing people the keys to their dream home at the closing. I love everything about real estate and now can’t imagine doing anything else.
I pride myself on being different than what I see on a daily basis from others in my profession. If you want to the “HGTV treatment” (your agent shows you three homes and then pressures you to pick one), I’m not your guy. Sometimes it takes viewing 10, 20, or 50+ homes to find “the one”. If you want an agent that is so busy that they might find the time get back to you in a day or two after you call, I’m not your guy. If you want someone who is flashy, egotistical, and just loves to hear themselves talk, I’m not your guy. If you want someone underhanded or unethical, I’m not your guy. However, if you are looking for a knowledgeable and trustworthy Christian Realtor® that will be available for you whenever you need them, someone that will communicate with you, help you through challenges that may arise in the process of buying or selling, act ethically but negotiate fiercely on your behalf, someone who will care about your needs and be willing to put them above a commission check, I am your guy.
If you are buyer looking for the right agent to assist you in the home buying process, or if you are a homeowner looking for the right agent to help you sell your home, I sincerely hope that you will consider me. I look forward to hearing from you! Call, text, or email me any time, I’d love to help!
Thank you and God Bless!
